Any supplier carrying on business at any place in India is required to obtain GST Registration if the aggregate turnover exceeds ₹20 lakhs in a financial year.

However, the threshold limit is ₹10 lakhs for businesses located in the following special category states as per Article 279A(4)(g) of the Constitution of India:

Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Jammu & Kashmir, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.

Once registered, the supplier is issued a GST Identification Number (GSTIN), which is mandatory for collecting GST and filing returns.
